Calculate velocity of a sprint

Suppose a release takes 10 to 12 sprints to complete. The release has 200 story points. 200 points / x points/sprint = 10 200 points / x points/sprint = 12 Low Velocity = 17 High Velocity = 20 So we have a velocity range with us based on the assumption that the release will take 10 to 12 sprints to complete. After this we measure the actual velocity of the first three sprints. It should be roughly within the calculated velocity range.

Calculate sprints for a release

Let's say 1 story point of work takes 1 ideal day. 1 ideal day = 8 hrs. An ideal day is a day without any hinderance and fully dedicated to project development work. Let's assume 1 ideal day = 2 actual days. Suppose for release 1, there are 200 story points of work. If one person does the work, the work will get completed in 400 days. We have 5 people in the sprint. So the release will take 80 days. If we take a 2 week sprint i.e. 10 days, 8 sprints will be required.
